This policy explains what personal data EXIT CHINA LTD, the operator of ExitChina.org (出海指南) (“we”), processes when you visit this site or contact us, why we process it, how long we keep it and what rights you have. It follows the principles of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and China’s Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL): collect as little as possible, use it only for clear purposes, and never sell it.

The site has no user accounts and no paid membership, and we never ask for identity documents, passport numbers or visa papers. Please do not email us that kind of sensitive information; if you send it by mistake, we will delete it once we have dealt with your question.

Who is responsible for your data

The controller of personal data processed through this site (the 个人信息处理者 under the PIPL) is:

  • Name: EXIT CHINA LTD
  • Address: T2110, Kehychivka, Kharkiv Oblast, 64000, Ukraine
  • Email: info@exitchina.org

EXIT CHINA LTD’s registered address is outside the European Union and the United Kingdom. If Article 27 of the GDPR (or the equivalent UK GDPR provision) requires us to designate a representative in the EU (or the UK), we will publish the representative’s name and contact details on this page. Until then, all requests about personal data can be sent directly to the email address above.

What we process

Server logs

Like most websites, our hosting server and content delivery network (CDN) automatically record technical information when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, time of the visit, the page requested and the referring URL. This is needed to run the site and protect it against attacks.

Analytics and cookies

We may use privacy-friendly analytics to see, in aggregate, which pages are read and which countries or regions readers come from, so that we can improve our content. Where possible we choose tools that do not build cross-site profiles and that truncate or anonymise IP addresses.

The site uses strictly necessary cookies or local storage, for example to remember your language choice. Where the law requires consent (for example in the EU and the UK), non-essential analytics and advertising cookies are only set after you agree, and you can withdraw consent at any time in the cookie settings.

Advertising and affiliate links

The site shows advertising and uses affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link, the partner may use a cookie or a link parameter to record that you came from our site so that a commission can be calculated; third-party ad services may also set cookies. That data is processed by those third parties under their own privacy policies.

Emails you send us

When you write to info@exitchina.org, we receive your email address, any name you give, and the content and attachments of your message.

Retention

  • Server logs: normally no longer than 90 days; longer only while a security incident is being investigated.
  • Analytics: kept in aggregated form that does not identify individuals.
  • Emails: up to 24 months after your matter is closed; partnership correspondence for as long as contracts and accounting rules require.

Service providers and international transfers

We use hosting, CDN, email and analytics providers to run the site. They may only process data on our instructions and for the purposes above, under contract.

These servers and providers may be located outside your country or region. For data leaving the European Economic Area or the UK, we rely on lawful mechanisms such as adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses. If you visit the site or write to us from mainland China, your information is collected directly by EXIT CHINA LTD, a personal information handler located outside China, and processed on servers outside China. In line with Article 17 of the PIPL, this policy tells you the handler’s name and contact details, the purposes and methods of processing, the categories of data, how long we keep it and how to exercise your rights.

Your rights

Depending on the law that applies to you, you can ask to access, copy, correct, complete or delete your personal data, restrict or object to certain processing, receive your data in a portable format, withdraw consent, and ask us to explain our processing rules. These rights are set out in Articles 15 to 22 of the GDPR and Articles 44 to 48 of the PIPL; the right to withdraw consent is in Article 7(3) of the GDPR and Article 15 of the PIPL. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing carried out before you withdrew it.

To exercise your rights, write to info@exitchina.org. We will reply within one month and may ask you to confirm your identity. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority, such as a supervisory authority in an EU member state or the authorities responsible for personal information protection in China.

Children

This site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 14, and will delete it if we find we have. Gambling-related content is for adults only; see our Disclaimer.

Security

The whole site is served over HTTPS, and access to the back end and the mailbox is limited to the people who need it. No transmission over the internet is completely secure, so please do not email us ID numbers, bank details or other sensitive data.
